You know, when I bought that Deino egg a few weeks ago I really didn't know what to expect. However, this...

[She gestures to the dragon on her lap, scratching it on its head.]

-wasn't something even I'd consider. Seriously, this thing looks like a crossover between Ringo Starr and a dog, with some lizard bits sprinkled in for good measure. If I wasn't a fan of the Beatles, I'd probably be angry.

But I'm not. Even named him Ringo for good measure. Hopefully he grows three more heads when he evolves so we can have the whole band.

[She puts him down on the ground, watching him for a few seconds as he walks off screen before turning her attention back to the camera.]

Anyway, now that the update all the "cool kids" do is out of the way, I can get to the main point of this message. I've been in this place for about a month, give or take. During that time I've been watching the network. People give updates like the one I just did all the time, telling us about shit we really don't care about, yet the one thing I never see is people complaining about this place.

We're taken from our homes to order a bunch of animals from a video game around for no apparent reason, yet I can count on my right hand the number of complaints I've heard, not counting newbies. So that got me thinking, why is that? Is it because bitching about our situation is pointless? Or...is it because back home just flat out sucks.

[A smile creeps across Jeane's face as she shrugs.]

...no, I think aliens would be equally idiotic, though given some of the things I've seen happen in this place I'm not about to rule idiocy out completely.

I was actually thinking extremely powerful Pokemon, given that the Pokemon in this world are the ones who seem to have the fantastic abilities.

You mean like Mewtwo? Or the legendary birds?

Are you talking about the legendary birds from Kanto? I'll admit, this "Mewtwo" hasn't come up in my research, but... the Pokemon I'm talking about have more mythological aspects to them than the ones you're talking about.

Well, Mewtwo isn't exactly well-known about, but he's kind of a big deal. If I'm remembering my game history right, he's supposed to be one of the strongest there is.

Is there a specific reason why information on him would be sparse? Well, aside from the fact that finding information on most legendary Pokemon is like pulling teeth, of course.

Well he was made by a group of scientists, for starters. Not like people had a lot of time to collect information on him as opposed to the other legendaries.

Ahh, I see. So he'd be more like a weapon than anything actually connected to forces of nature.

A really vicious living weapon with psychic powers, but yeah.

Well, I assumed that went without saying.

There are some texts that I've been coming across that suggest some legendary Pokemon in other regions are considered to have power comparable to that of gods-for example, the Hoenn region seems to have a sea god of some sort, and I've come across references to Pokemon that control time and space-though I'm not sure which region's mythology they belong to yet.

Isn't that a bit...strange? I mean, if these things are just Pokémon, no matter how powerful they are, shouldn't we be able to capture them if found?

It's really not, but basically? It can catch any Pokémon. Even Mewtwo, the living weapon who could rip out your intestines and strangle you with 'em using its mind can't resist it.

Anyway, you can probably find a Master Ball at Silph Co. in Kanto. They made the first one. Only one was ever made, supposedly, but obviously they'd have the blueprints to make another. Play your cards right, and maybe they'll build you a second one.

Why would they only ever make one? That seems uncharacteristic of a large, profit-motivated corporation. Even if the run was limited, it seems like it could earn them a fortune.

Don't ask me; there isn't much about this world that makes much sense when you stop and think about it. It's better to just shut up and go with the flow; your head will hurt a lot less if you do.

Where I'm from, I deal with things that are almost as obtuse on a regular basis... the only real difference is that we already have the answers for a great deal of the questions in my world and it's impossible to accidentally kill yourself in this one. Someone has to look into this place, after all.
